New York State Association of Fire Chaplains







(Association Members at Spring Conference)

The mission of the New York State Association of Fire Chaplains is to unite all Fire Chaplains of the State of New York in order to promote a deeper and wider knowledge of one another in the true ecumenical spirit and to establish statewide procedures of standardization in serving our fellow firefighters, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), and God, our supreme Chief.

The Association:

Provides fellowship through our Spring Training Conference.

Develops ideas and procedures for chaplains to follow in ministry in and through the fire service.

Gives an opportunity to develop skills in firematics through annual training periods.

Establishes an identity for chaplains within the fire & EMS service of New York State.


Fire Chaplains:

~ are layman or ordained persons chosen to serve the needs of the members of their departments; paid or volunteer.

~ are persons whose skills and compassion can meet the special needs of victims of fire, accidents and disasters.

~ are available to their departments for alarms, drills, meetings, socials, memorials and public functions.

~ are available to the sick and for counseling on both professional and personal problems.

~ are trained firefighters, rescue workers, qualified first aid attendants or emergency medical technicians ready to work beside colleagues in combating fires and meeting human needs.
