Chaplain’s Emergency Service Bag

When an emergency occurs there is little time to “gather a few things together.” The following items have been recommended as components of an Emergency Service Bag that can be carried at all times in your Chaplain’s vehicle or be at the ready near the exit of your home.

  1. Heavy duty carry all bag
  2. Emergency service identification card
  3. Flashlight with four extra batteries
  4. Writing paper with two extra pens
  5. Warm cap with ear covering
  6. Cap with “Chaplain” on it
  7. Heavy warm gloves
  8. Light cotton/wool gloves (for dry warmth)
  9. Latex surgical gloves (protection for blood borne pathogens)
  10. Over shoes
  11. Rubber boots
  12. Pair of socks
  13. Rain gear coat/jacket
  14. Bug spray or repellant
  15. Ministry book/small Bible
  16. Small personal religious or prayer book
  17. Small first aid emergency book
  18. Small first aid kit with band aids etc.
  19. Street map
  20. Resource booklet with phone numbers
  21. Snacks bars, raisins, and fluid replacements where appropriate
  22. Specialty items required by our climate or particular circumstances
  23. Personal soft body armor

Every Chaplain has a different way of praying, conducting a service or even preparing for a sermon. This page is dedicated to those Chaplains who wish to share their “secret to serving God” with other Chaplains. Please send us your favorite prayer, hymn, poem or story.
